Existing month to month, July 2015

This month saw a new service, more mobile app work, and (gasp!) the sort-of-departure of a Hello Code co-founder.

Product development

In mobile news, Belle continued to work on the iOS app, building the Today tab (still unreleased) to match the Android app. On the Android side, I added a Timeline tab to provide a list of previous moods and insights, matching the iOS app's Mood list (but with extra stuff).

The web app saw the release of a new integration with Misfit, and a lovely new home page that better explains Exist.

Marketing

Along with four links posts, we published our final podcast episode of the first season, after which we're taking a little break.

Other business stuff

The big news here is that Belle needed to find a "day job" to pay off her tax debt. She trialled two different roles and ended up joining Ghost as their Head Content Person of Content Writing. She's still a Hello Code co-founder, of course, but sadly will have limited time left over for Exist-related work. I'll continue to focus on building the product, and will take on more of the admin and support work.

In other boring admin news, we switched accountants.

Numbers

Business stats
  • 538 users (477 paid)
  • 62 free trial signups
  • 12% growth with 62 conversions from free to paid
  • 3% churn with 13 cancelled accounts
  • 26 suspended accounts
  • $2,903.83 income after Stripe fees (-16% from prior month)

Our third month over $2k, and a decrease from the previous month which had 5 weeks of transfers instead of the usual 4.

Site stats

With July being the first month that Belle was absent and trialling a new job, we saw a slight decrease in traffic. We'll need a few more months of data to find out if these things are truly related, but it's my hunch that a lack of marketing and visibility will result in lower traffic and signups.

How'd we do?

A pretty productive month! Misfit integration was well-received, and the mobile apps are making good progress towards covering all the day-to-day use cases of Exist.
