Existing month to month, November 2014
Hot on the heels of October's report, it's November. Look out.
Product development
November was also a month of interruptions as we moved house and settled in. Regardless, I knuckled down and launched our long-requested RescueTime integration! We now track productive, neutral, and distracting time — so you can see your activity and productivity together on your dashboard, as well as find out what else affects your productive days.
I also made some improvements to insights and the onboarding process.
Belle kept working on Exist for iOS and eventually gave up on TestFlight (and the Apple review process) in favour of HockeyApp.
Belle also spent a huge amount of time scheduling, following up on, and finally actually conducting user interviews via Skype and email. What a process! We learnt (and reaffirmed) a lot, and it was good to get to meet more of you lovely people.
Marketing
Continuing on her huge work streak, Belle published four link roundup posts and three other pieces:
- How to stop stress from bringing you down
- You love RescueTime so here it is
- How to drag yourself out of bed
Other business stuff
As mentioned, we moved house and Hello Code HQ. We also decided to shut down The List.
We started The List as an experiment in bringing in some extra revenue by building on Belle's stellar reputation as a content marketer and as a way to teach others her tricks of the trade. However (and completely fairly) Belle would rather spend time working directly on Exist, and we decided it wasn't worth pursuing. Thanks to everyone who signed up and actually read our first four issues.
The numbers
Business stats
- 364 users (311 paid)
- 55 free trial signups
- 4% growth with 15 conversions from free to paid (27% conversion rate)
- 3% churn with 13 cancelled accounts
- 3 suspended accounts
- $879.21 income after Stripe fees
- $195.07 income from The List
It's frustrating how little we've grown our user base. Back in July we had 299 paid users. We've added twelve more in that whole time. TWELVE. Swearwords.
Site stats
- 3,235 uniques to our landing page (-13% from October)
- 8,770 uniques to the blog (-7% from October)
- 2,685 unique hits to our ever-popular blog post, How does your fitness tracker know when you're asleep? (same post up 12% from October)
- Top traffic sources: Direct/organic search, Twitter, Flipboard
November: how'd we do?
Despite a week of downtime from moving house, we had a solid November and achieved our modest goals from October. Good job team.
Next month
December is the month of mobile apps. We're not aiming for public availability yet, but looking for solid progress in both the Android and iOS apps so we can work on an early 2015 launch.
Author and co-founder @joshsharp was really slack in writing this but let's not talk about that. Please sign up and try Exist.
